Background
MyRadSquad is a conceptual mobile communication app designed around small, private groups rather than large public networks.
While most social platforms prioritize broadcasting to wide audiences, MyRadSquad explores a more intimate model — enabling users to stay continuously connected with their closest friends through text, voice, and asynchronous video.
The project focuses on recreating the feeling of shared presence, even when users are physically apart.

Most communication platforms are designed for scale, not intimacy.
Large group chats become noisy, while social media encourages performance rather than authentic interaction. Users often lack a dedicated digital space for casual, low-pressure communication with their closest friends.
The challenge was designing a system that prioritizes emotional closeness, presence, and spontaneity over reach and visibility.
The design approach centered on creating small, persistent communication spaces called “squads,” limited to a maximum of five members.
This constraint encouraged stronger social dynamics and reduced communication noise.
Key design principles included:
– Supporting multiple communication formats: text, voice, and asynchronous video
– Designing lightweight interaction flows for frequent daily use
– Emphasizing presence through activity indicators and real-time feedback
– Creating a visually minimal interface to keep focus on conversation
Wireframes and prototypes explored how interaction patterns could feel natural, informal, and organic.

The outcome was a mobile prototype that reframed social communication around intimacy rather than scale.
By limiting group size and supporting multimodal communication, MyRadSquad demonstrated how digital products can foster stronger emotional connections.
This project deepened my understanding of designing for behavioral and emotional interaction — where success is measured not by engagement metrics alone, but by the quality of connection.
